Us
Here we are.
I’m Sue and these are my boys, Jaedyn and Jesse.
We live in the lovely rural area of Machias, Washington, which is nestled somewhat between the towns of Lake Stevens, Monroe, and Snohomish.
We’re all about living peacefully. My goal is to raise my children to be considerate of others, to respect nature, to do no harm, to be responsible and to be kind. This is the real us. These are our real names. This is where we live. This is what we’re up to and this is what we’re about.
So here we are. This is us.
Hello!
🙂
Me
I‘m the mama.
My life revolves mainly around my kids. Most of my time is spent taking care of the business of life, much of which involves KP…
I like walking, bicycling, sky gazing, forest bathing, contemplation, playing Scrabble and other games, all manner of creative endeavors, sipping delightful beverages such as coffee, tea, cognac, wine and scotch, and rearranging my furniture.
Jaedyn
Jaedyn is my little artist! He sees the world through an artist’s eyes. He’s got the most fantastic imagination. He loves to design things and scavenges recyclables for his inventions and contraptions. As a younger boy, Jaedyn loved art, Lego, Minecraft, sticks, rocks, and frogs. Some of those interests have been shelved in favor of more teenage-relevant pursuits including bass guitar and night-owlism. Even so, he has always had an uncanny ability to find lizards almost anywhere we go. Jaedyn does not love math (although I try to convince him that he DOES), and he does not love sports that involve running. Jaedyn is my resident giant. He was born weighing 10 lbs 7 oz, and that trend has not subsided for even a moment. Although football coaches have had their eye on him since kindergarten, his interests lean toward art and nature, rather than sport. My man-child number one is more than man-sized at fifteen, and the phrase “act your age, not your shoe size” doesn’t carry much oomph, given they are presently one and the same.
Jesse
To those who know him, Jesse is full on! He’s bursting with energy and excitement. He’s sharp and fun and funny. Jesse shares many of the same interests as his brother, such as Lego, Minecraft, sticks, rocks, and small creatures. Currently he prefers to channel most of his energy through the XBOX, and endeavors to emulate his brother’s night owl practices. He is very social with his trusted peeps, and has an aptitude for music (that he doesn’t acknowledge). He’s got a sense of rhythm and he can carry a tune. Jesse loves roller-coasters and fast, thrilling amusement park rides. My man-child number two seems to have been in competition with his brother from the get go, emerging at nearly ten and a half pounds as well, and as a pre-teen is already taller than his mother.
Fruit-Bat-Faced Dog and Fluffy Black Cat
Best friends. We are grateful for our furry friends. These fine creatures are road trippers and car campers, and general all around scamps. They teach us many things about living, being, communicating, interacting, and relating with others. Each has a special bond with their boy, and neither of them sweat the small stuff.
